Burning bright

Native New Yorkers and visitors alike love to stumble around on the ice at Rockefeller Center. Once in a while, a breathtaking skater takes center stage, but mostly it's just--us.

Just us, filling the world-renowned space with ordinary effort and laughter, doing our best to keep the city going.

Is it just me, or is this year's tree the most spectacularly lit tree in the history of Rockefeller Center? It looks like a solid, multicolored light.

Or you could think of the 50,000 individual lights (I checked): a blue one, a red one, a green one, a white one, a burnt-out one, every single one just a light bulb, going about its electrical business in the brilliant city of New York.

Do your part. Burn bright, people.
